The Acalanes Dons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vallejo Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Acalanes walked away with it. They really took it to Mt. Diablo for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-14 win at home. Acalanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven games by 20 points or more this season.
Acalanes had a senior duo take command as Sully Bailey threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes and Henry Souza picked up 129 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jake Boselli made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Vallejo came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 28-22 victory over Del Norte.
Vallejo relied on the efforts of Jasier Smith, who threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns, and David Buddha Bernstine III, who picked up 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Buddha Bernstine III was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 63 yards.
Acalanes has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Vallejo, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Everything came up roses for Acalanes against Vallejo when the teams last played back in September as the squad secured a 50-0 victory. Will Acalanes repeat their success, or does Vallejo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
