Woodland Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Isaiah Hunt, who threw for 283 yards and four TDs while completing 84.2% of his passes, and Oliver Holleman, who gained 138 total yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Holleman a new career-high in rushing yards (103).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mesa Verde). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Esparto 53-14. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.
Woodland Christian better keep an eye on Cesar Granados. He was instrumental in Mesa Verde's win, rushing for 125 yards and a pair of scores. Granados showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 55 yards. D'Mani Block was in the mix as well, providing Mesa Verde with one touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mesa Verde's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Brandon Salcido, Mataeo Washington, and Block, who each picked up one sack apiece.
