The Crossroad Academy Scorpions's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 65-55 victory over Gadsden County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Crossroad Academy was led to victory by Tyrek Jessie and Ja'Mari Favors. Jessie scored 13 points along with four steals, while Favors scored 16 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jessie has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Camari Hale, who scored nine points.
Gadsden County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nasir Williams, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds. Williams is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Mosley, who scored 22 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Gadsden County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crossroad Academy only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Crossroad Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Gadsden County, they bumped their record down to 5-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crossroad Academy will take on Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 512th, while Crossroad Academy is ranked 213th). As for Gadsden County, they will challenge Godby at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
