Whiting extended the longest winning streak in Greater South Shore this week by beating River Forest, 39-0. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Oilers.
South Central took down Calumet 58-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Whiting's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Oilers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. AJ Veloz has thrown for 1662 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Patrick Petruf has 33 catches for 839 yards. Ethan Young leads the league in rushing with 777 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Whiting takes on Edison. At the moment, Jeff Cain's team is in first, while the Fighting Eagles are in seventh.
North Newton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,734 from 10,981. The improvement was the result of 40-6 victory over Edison last week.
