Softball Recap: Durham Academy Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Durham Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans 17-7. With that victory, the Cavaliers brought their scoring average up to 8.8 runs per game.

Stella Teis and Meera Gupta made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Teis pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gupta pitched two innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Teis a new career-low in walks (zero). At the plate, Teis scored two runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-5, while Gupta scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. Those four hits gave Teis a new career-high.

In other batting news, Whitney Wiles was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cassie Stallone, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Durham Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .526 or higher in three consecutive matches.
