Savanna has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Wednesday. They will face off against the Westminster Lions at 7:00 p.m. Savanna will be strutting in after a victory while Westminster will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Savanna was fully in charge, breezing past Saddleback 74-46 at home.
Savanna's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dontey Henderson led the charge by scoring 26 points along with 4 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Henderson has scored at least 25% of Savanna's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Henderson, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Westminster pushed their score all the way to 83 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 89-83 hit to the loss column at the hands of Costa Mesa. Westminster has struggled against Costa Mesa recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Westminster's defeat came about despite a quality game from Matt Tran, who scored 16 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals. Tran continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Eric Hoang was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with 6 rebounds.
Savanna's victory bumped their season record to 3-3 while Saddleback's defeat dropped theirs to 3-7.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Savanna hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.5 points per game. It's a different story for Westminster, though, as they've been averaging only 63.5 per game. The only thing between Savanna and another offensive beatdown is Westminster.
