The Dripping Springs Tigers will square off against the Lake Travis Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dripping Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, Dripping Springs came up short against Bowie and fell 10-6.
Lorelei Gamble made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off three home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Byrnes, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lake Travis, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over Del Valle on Friday. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Julianna Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Haley Whitefield was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Regan Moore was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Lake Travis hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive contests.
Dripping Springs' defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Travis, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 9-5-1.
Dripping Springs' speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. Dripping Springs has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lake Travis, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Dripping Springs continue to outrun the ball?
Dripping Springs skirted past Lake Travis 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Dripping Springs repeat their success, or does Lake Travis have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
