Even though the Bethany Wolves have not done well against the Clover Garden School Grizzlies recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Bethany managed a 51-47 victory over Clover Garden School. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Bethany was the better team in the second half.
Bethany got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Haley Ricketts out in front who scored 11 points along with five assists and four steals. Ricketts is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Denny, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hanna Tickle, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tickle has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Arissa Duff, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Bethany's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Clover Garden School, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.
Bethany won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cornerstone Charter at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Cornerstone Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Clover Garden School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Triangle Math & Science at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Triangle Math & Science is ranked 293rd, while Clover Garden School is ranked 310th).
