Princeton came out on top against Erie-Prophetstown on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Tigers took their match against the Panthers 9-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Piper Hansen looked comfortable as she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Princeton got a big performance out of Izzy Gibson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Sam Woolley was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI.
Princeton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Riverdale entered their tilt with Orion on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Chargers. Considering the Rams have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Katie Cox was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Breckin DeLaRosa, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Riverdale's record now sits at 14-3. As for Princeton, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Princeton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Riverdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
