With a playoff game on the line, the Central Red Devils rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tigers 49-21 on the road. The victory was just business as usual for Central, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Andrew Alford continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 429 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.1% of his passes. Alford is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Coleman, who picked up 208 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Jaelen Southall was especially locked on to Auburn's QB and sacked him twice.
Central's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Auburn, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Central will face off against Mary G. Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mary G. Montgomery is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. Auburn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
