Lakeland Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the McKeel Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Lakeland Christian came up short against Mulberry and fell 70-57.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Eleni Katzaras, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Issa Simpson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, McKeel Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Santa Fe Catholic on the road to the tune of 58-12. McKeel Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.
Lakeland Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. As for McKeel Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-9.
Lakeland Christian came up short against McKeel Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 45-37. Can Lakeland Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
