The Eau Gallie Commodores will square off against the Doral Academy Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Eau Gallie's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 27-0 margin over Palm Bay. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Commodores.
Evie Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Eau Gallie got a massive performance out of Mary Winans, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave Winans a new career-high. Hannah Leech was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Eau Gallie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .714. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Doral Academy strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on St. Brendan with a sharp 13-0 win.
Like Eau Gallie, Doral Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Meagan Villazon. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Villazon was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah Breaux, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Anabela Abdullah, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Doral Academy's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.1 runs on average over those games. As for Eau Gallie, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eau Gallie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. However, it's not like Doral Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .418. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
