The Sandoval Blackhawks pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Woodlawn by a score of 58-56. Sandoval has not had much luck with Woodlawn recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Woodlawn can attribute much of their success to Olivia Skinner, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Skinner continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Sophia Skinner was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Sandoval's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 9-12-1. As for Woodlawn, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandoval won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Nokomis at 7:15 p.m. on January 11th. Hopefully Nokomis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday. As for Woodlawn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday.
