The Northwestern Bulls and the Plantation Colonels will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Friday.
Last Tuesday, Northwestern came up short against Palmetto and fell 68-56. Northwestern has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Northwestern had strong showings from Calvin Russel, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Micheal Flores, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Russel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Myron Parker Jr., who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Plantation didn't have too much trouble with McArthur at home on Thursday as they won 74-56. Given Plantation's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while McArthur is ranked 482nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northwestern's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6. As for Plantation, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
