The North Eugene Highlanders will head out on the road to take on the Thurston Colts at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. North Eugene has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 721 points over their last ten games.
North Eugene pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crater. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as North Eugene came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Crater is ranked 49th).
Despite the loss, North Eugene had strong showings from Caiden Gould, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and India Mohiuddin, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals. Mohiuddin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Jonas Spencer was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Thurston had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They took down Churchill 68-52.
North Eugene's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for Thurston, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
North Eugene skirted past Thurston 58-56 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Eugene since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
