Warren Woods-Tower hasn't had much luck against Franklin recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Titans will head out to square off against the Patriots at 11:00 a.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Warren Woods-Tower took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Lamphere, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Titans narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Rams 4-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Titans as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Shane Duvall was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Derek Akins, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Franklin made easy work of Cranbrook Kingswood on Friday and carried off a 9-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Thomas Wiwigacz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Gross, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Anthony Flora was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cranbrook Kingswood only posted an OBP of .379.
Franklin pushed their record up to 25-5-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Warren Woods-Tower, their record is now 5-20.
Warren Woods-Tower suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Franklin in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
