Basketball Game Preview: Tradition Prep Pirates vs. Lake Worth Christian Defenders

The Tradition Prep Pirates just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Lake Worth Christian Defenders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Tradition Prep is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Master's Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Tradition Prep blew Master's Academy out of the water with a 74-40 final score. The Pirates pushed the score to 55-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had little chance of recovering from.

Tradition Prep relied on the efforts of Aydan Fields, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards, and Nick Dunphy, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance gave Dunphy a new career-high in points. Ethan Chevres was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Tradition Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Worth Christian). They blew past Berean Christian, posting a 97-49 victory. The Defenders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Tradition Prep is also on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points per game. As for Lake Worth Christian, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-10.
