The Brooklyn Hurricanes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a tough 56-32 loss at the hands of Cuyahoga Heights. While losing is never fun, Brooklyn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 690th, while Cuyahoga Heights is ranked 208th).
When it comes to explaining why Brooklyn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ashlyn Dyson. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. Dyson scored a full 46.9% of Brooklyn's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Olivia Callahan was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Brooklyn struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Brooklyn bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Cuyahoga Heights, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
Brooklyn will head out on the road to face off against Wickliffe at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wickliffe is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. Cuyahoga Heights will be home for the holidays to greet Harvey at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
