Softball Recap: Mountain Crest Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Mountain Crest had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Layton Lancers on Wednesday, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since March 7th.

Mountain Crest's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Coulam, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Coulam has posted since back in March. Keltey Hendry also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Mountain Crest's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Layton, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Mountain Crest will head out to challenge Bear River at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Layton, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Farmington at 3:30 p.m. The Phoenix have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.46 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
