After flying high against the Juda Panthers last Friday, the Benton Zephyrs came back down to earth. Benton took a serious blow against Scales Mound on Monday, falling 71-22. Benton has struggled against Scales Mound recently, as their game on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Scales Mound was led to victory by Aidan Soppe and Thomas Hereau. Soppe scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Hereau scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Soppe has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Birkett, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Benton's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Scales Mound, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lancaster at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th. As for Scales Mound, they will head out on the road to challenge West Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Scales Mound focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday.
