Basketball Recap: Woodward Academy Skates Past Dunwoody with Ease

Woodward Academy won the last time they faced Dunwoody and things went their way on Friday too. The Woodward Academy War Eagles blew past the Dunwoody Wildcats 78-44. The War Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Woodward Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zachary Foster out in front who went 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points along with six steals and five boards. The contest was Foster's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Deke Cooper was another key player, going 8 of 13 to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds.

Dunwoody's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennan Smith, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Emerson Mitchell, who put up four points and seven assists.

Woodward Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.9 points over those games. As for Dunwoody, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-15.

Coincidentally, Woodward Academy and Dunwoody will both be playing Tri-Cities the next time they take the court. Woodward Academy will host Tri-Cities at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Dunwoody will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
