The Auburn Bulldogs had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They had just enough and edged Nebraska City out 34-32. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for ten points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Auburn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maverick Binder, who rushed for 174 yards. Binder is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Nixon Ligouri and his 100 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Auburn's win.
Auburn's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Falls City and 2-7 Raymond Central (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.3% over those games). As for Nebraska City, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Auburn will be playing in front of their home fans against Ogallala at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ogallala will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Nebraska City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
