After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sharon, Jefferson Area was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Conneaut Spartans 12-1. Considering the Falcons have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Rylee Demattia and Marillia Matuz did most of the damage at the plate: Demattia went 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double, while Matuz got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those five RBI gave Demattia a new career-high. Alaina Barress was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
The win got Jefferson Area back to even at 10-10. As for Conneaut, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
