Bonsall hasn't had much luck against Liberty Charter recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Legionnaires will host the Lions at 3:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bonsall comes in on four and Liberty Charter on three.
On Thursday, Bonsall got the win against Ocean View Christian by a conclusive 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Legionnaires, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Liberty Charter hadn't done well against Bayfront Charter recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lions came out on top against the Sharks by a score of 7-2.
Leah Urias made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Briza Pelayo, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angie Carreon, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Liberty Charter hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Liberty Charter pushed their record up to 4-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bonsall, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
Bonsall suffered a grim 26-3 defeat to Liberty Charter in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Legionnaires have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
