The J.Z. George Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They lost to Union at home by a decisive 62-44 margin. While losing is never fun, J.Z. George can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Union is ranked 101st).
Union was led to victory by Kylee Madden and Rymia Craft. Madden scored 19 points along with two steals, while Craft scored 29 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Craft has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Killen, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
J.Z. George dropped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Union, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 16-3.
J.Z. George won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Eupora at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Union, they will be playing at home against Sebastopol at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sebastopol is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
