South Bend Riley hasn't had much luck against New Prairie recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in South Bend Riley's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
South Bend Riley's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They didn't even let Elkhart Christian Academy on the board, marking the Wildcats' second-straight 16-0 shutout. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
ELLIANA GONZALES made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, South Bend Riley got a massive performance out of LEXINGTON JENKINS, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave JENKINS a new career-high. LUCY FRANKO was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
South Bend Riley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .590 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, New Prairie's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Chesterton by a score of 9-8. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Trojans since on Saturday.
Randi Robakowski made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Harmon, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
South Bend Riley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for New Prairie, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
South Bend Riley's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for New Prairie, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will South Bend Riley continue to outrun the ball?
South Bend Riley might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from New Prairie when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
