Baseball Recap: Fairview Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

Fairview came out on top against North Central on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Apaches put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-5 win. Considering the Apaches have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Drayden Grinnell-Dennis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Carter Hill also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fairview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Central only managed seven hits.

Fairview's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for North Central, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairview will welcome Pandora-Gilboa at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Apaches are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for North Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gorham Fayette at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Gorham Fayette has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.91 runs per game on average), something North Central will no doubt try to take advantage of.
