The Vineland Fighting Clan can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Clayton by a score of 55-46. Vineland's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Rainelle Blocker and Jordyn Jones certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Blocker dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Jones scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and three steals. Blocker scored a full 26.1% of Clayton's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of La'Naya Carr-Archie, who scored four points.
Vineland's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Clayton, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vineland and Bridgeton will face off at 5:30 a.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bridgeton comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Clayton and Gloucester Catholic will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gloucester Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Clayton in New Jersey (Gloucester Catholic is ranked 25th, while Clayton is ranked 332nd).
