Basketball Recap: Colton Betosky's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Community Christian Academy over Jefferson Davis Academy

Community Christian Academy came up into this matchup off a tough 20-point loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders by a score of 69-67 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Ambassadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 230th in Georgia, while the Raiders are ranked 105th in South Carolina).

Community Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Colton Betosky, who posted 27 points. The match was Betosky's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Quarles, who put up 20 points.

Nasir Void was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 20 rebounds for Jefferson Davis Academy. Void has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Colson Loadholt, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Community Christian Academy dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only four points. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Step of Faith Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Community Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season. Jefferson Davis Academy and Andrew Jackson Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Andrew Jackson Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 270 points over their last three games.
