After a string of four wins, the Spruce Creek Hawks's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 67-45 defeat at the hands of Mainland. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Spruce Creek has suffered since December 1, 2023.
It was another big night for Anovia Sheals, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds for Mainland. Sheals is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tia Dobson, who scored four points along with eight assists and three steals.
Spruce Creek's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Mainland, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season.
Spruce Creek's road trip will continue as they head out to face Central Florida Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Central Florida Christian Academy will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Mainland will take on Dr. Phillips at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Dr. Phillips focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
