Basketball Recap: Blue Valley Southwest Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Eli Mick and Baylor Rank

If Blue Valley Southwest was riding high fresh off their 70-42 takedown of Eisenhower last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves fell 57-50 to the Olathe East Hawks on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Hawks are ranked 40th).

Baylor Rank and Eli Mick certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Rank went 6 for 14 en route to 17 points, while Mick posted 16 points and four steals. Mick has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Wesley Abraham was another key player, putting up three points and four steals.

Blue Valley Southwest's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Olathe East, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Blue Valley Southwest will be playing in front of their home fans against Shawnee Mission West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Blue Valley Southwest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. Olathe East has already played their next matchup (against Shawnee Mission North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
