The El Camino Eagles will be playing at home against the Vista del Lago Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. El Camino is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
El Camino suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Friday. Their rough 67-45 loss to Rio Americano might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points El Camino has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Justin Watts, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetrious Perry, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 76-44, which was the final score in Vista del Lago's tilt against Capital Christian on Friday. While losing is never fun, Vista del Lago can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while Capital Christian is ranked 129th).
El Camino has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Vista del Lago, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.
El Camino came up short against Vista del Lago in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 66-60. Can El Camino avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
