After a string of three wins, the Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Anthony. Kellenberg Memorial was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Friars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
St. Anthony's got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kevin Moore out in front who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Welling, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Kellenberg Memorial's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-1. As for St. Anthony's, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Kellenberg Memorial will head out on the road to challenge the Gaels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Mary's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully the Firebirds like a good challenge. As for St. Anthony's, they will look to defend their home court on Sunday against the Gaels at 3:45 p.m. Iona Prep is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
