In what's become a running theme this season, the Mercedes Tigers gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 63-27 victory over Porter. Given Mercedes' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 494th, while Porter is ranked 1422nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mercedes was led to victory by Leah Adame and Jaymie Flores. Adame scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Flores scored 19 points along with eight steals. Adame continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyna Gonzalez, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Mercedes pushed their record up to 19-8 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Porter, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.
Mercedes will head out on the road to face off against Donna at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Porter, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Edcouch-Elsa at 6:00 p.m.
