Coronado is 8-2 against Rancho since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Rams at 3:30 p.m. Coronado will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Coronado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Liberty, who was ranked fourth at the time (Coronado was ranked ninth). The Cougars walked away with a 7-4 win over the Patriots on Tuesday.
Sarah Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Alohi Mundon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Goldberg, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Coronado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 9-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rancho). They never let Desert Pines get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Wednesday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Alyssa Velez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Alainna Weber was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
Rancho is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Coronado, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-11.
Coronado took their win against Rancho when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
