After a string of nine wins, Mater Dei's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Mascoutah Indians by a score of 2-1. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Mater Dei's loss dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Mascoutah, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Mater Dei and Mascoutah should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Knights will square off against Freeburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (4 vs. 149). Meanwhile, Mascoutah (ranked 19th) will meet Jersey (ranked 183rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
