After flying high against the Tallassee Tigers two weeks ago, the Marbury Bulldogs came back down to earth. Marbury suffered a rough 71-51 loss at the hands of Pelham on Monday.
When it comes to explaining why Marbury lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nasiyah Jernigan . Despite the final result, she scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds. Jernigan scored a full 41.2% of Marbury's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justice Blackmon , who scored 13 points.
Pelham got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tee King out in front who scored 17 points along with 7 assists and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Karma Wynn, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Marbury's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pelham, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marbury will take on Chilton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Chilton County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Tuesday. As for Pelham, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Calera at 6:00 p.m. on November 28th. Calera comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
