Even though the Lawrence Academy Warriors have not done well against the Ridgecroft Rams recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lawrence Academy came out on top against Ridgecroft by a score of 74-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lawrence Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mari Larry, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Larry hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Lee, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Ridgecroft's loss came despite strong showings from Antron Gray and Sawyer Chamblee. Gray scored 23 points along with five assists, while Chamblee dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Bill Vaughan was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Lawrence Academy and bumps their season record up to 11-5. As for Ridgecroft, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence Academy will challenge John Paul II Catholic at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Ridgecroft, they will head out on the road to challenge Albemarle School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
