Bonita Vista is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Steele Canyon is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Barons will host the Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bonita Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 29.9 points per game this season.
Bonita Vista's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Thursday, when they got past Mater Dei Catholic's usually-dominant defense. The Barons claimed a resounding 38-7 victory over the Crusaders. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Barons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Crusaders are ranked 207th).
A big part of Bonita Vista's win came down to the chemistry between Mia Ramirez and her top target Gabriella Meza. Ramirez threw for 192 yards and three TDs while Meza picked up 52 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

One reason for the win was Bonita Vista's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ella Gomez. She is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another thorn in Mater Dei Catholic's side was Layla Schoen, who made eight total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended two passes.
Meanwhile, Steele Canyon earned a 19-7 victory over Helix on Thursday.
Bonita Vista better keep an eye on Ily (I-Lee) Barclay. She was instrumental in Steele Canyon's win, picking up 90 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 34 yards and one TD.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Steele Canyon proved: they limited Helix to a paltry three yards per carry. The team can thank Elisha Lewis for the heroic effort on defense: she. Steele Canyon didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.
Bonita Vista's record now sits at 19-0. As for Steele Canyon, their record is now 18-4.
Bonita Vista didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Steele Canyon in their previous meeting back in September, but they still walked away with a 25-19 win. Will the Barons repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
