Basketball Recap: Crew Oetjen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Santa Cruz Valley

Arete Prep won the last time they faced Santa Cruz Valley and things went their way on Friday too. The Arete Prep CHARGERS managed a 60-55 victory over the Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils.

Arete Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Crew Oetjen led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and 17 boards. Oetjen has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played. Harrison Kremer was another key player, putting up 18 points and seven rebounds.

Several Dust Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ty Jarius Salazar, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 22 points along with six boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Javar Williams, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Arete Prep now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Santa Cruz Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.

Arete Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-53 win against Trivium Prep on the 16th. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 68-49 victory against San Miguel on the 16th.
