On Friday, the Valor Christian Eagles faced the Chaparral Wolverines in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Valor Christian enjoyed a cozy 64-47 win over Chaparral. Valor Christian's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Valor Christian was led to victory by Brady Wynja and Cole Scherer. Wynja scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals, while Scherer scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Scherer has scored at least 25% of Valor Christian's points. Eli Kim was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Despite the loss, Chaparral still got an impressive performance from Gavin Carter, who scored 17 points. The matchup was Carter's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Luke Howery, who scored 10 points.
Valor Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Valor Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face ThunderRidge at 3:00 p.m. on December 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (ThunderRidge is ranked ninth, while Valor Christian is ranked sixth). As for Chaparral, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Arapahoe at 1:20 p.m. on Saturday.
