The Western Hills Wolverines will challenge the Grant County Braves at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Western Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over Anderson County. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolverines needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Walker Drury made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Cole Semones and Owen Woodson did most of the damage at the plate: Semones went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Woodson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Woodson is becoming a predictor of Western Hills' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Gavin Murphy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Western Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson County only posted a batting average of .296.
Meanwhile, Grant County made easy work of Lloyd Memorial on Friday and carried off a 9-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Braves.
The team relied heavily on Luke Williams, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Colton Alexander was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Grant County's victory bumped their record up to 14-12. As for Western Hills, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Western Hills has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Grant County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Western Hills suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Grant County in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Wolverines have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
