Softball Recap: Valley View Extends Winning Streak to Three

Valley View entered their tilt with Scranton Prep on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 17-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Taylor Cawley and Abbi Call made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Cawley pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Call pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Cawley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Cawley went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Call went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Cora Castellani was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Moyles, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Valley View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scranton Prep only posted an OBP of .214.

Valley View pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Scranton Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Valley View will be playing at home against Lake-Lehman at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Scranton Prep, they will face off against Scranton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
