Basketball Game Preview: Manitou Springs Mustangs vs. Colorado Springs Christian Lions

The Manitou Springs Mustangs will take on the Colorado Springs Christian Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Manitou Springs will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Manitou Springs didn't have too much trouble with La Junta as they won 39-23.

Manitou Springs found their leader in sophomore Kate Jorstad, who shot 5-for-7 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Those 18 points gave Jorstad a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nolan Barrett, who posted three points and four steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Colorado Springs Christian). They breezed by Florence to the tune of 90-10 on Tuesday. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Colorado Springs Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points per game. As for Manitou Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Manitou Springs was dealt a bruising 81-20 loss at the hands of Colorado Springs Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Manitou Springs was down 47-10.
