Trinity-Pawling School extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 2-14. They lost 13-3 to the Taft School Big Red. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Big Red this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 on April 6th.
Cole Jennings made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Alexander Jendras was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
As for Taft School, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Taft School's side, Tyler Spellman looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Spellman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kevin Cestari and Brandon Skerritt did most of the damage at the plate: Cestari went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Skerritt went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Cestari a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Palmer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Trinity-Pawling School will challenge rival Kingswood Oxford at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Taft School is set to face off against their familiar foe Choate Rosemary Hall School at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
