Baseball Recap: Simpson Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Park Place Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Simpson Academy). They blew past the Park Place Christian Academy Crusaders 16-2 on Friday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Braxton Baldwin tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hendrix Magee was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Gage Smith was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Simpson Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Simpson Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.38 hits in those games compared to only 5.33 in the others. Park Place Christian Academy's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-7.
