Baseball Recap: Goldsboro's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Goldsboro waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Beddingfield Bruins. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-1 back in March.

Bladen Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Avery Grant was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joseph Hayes, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Goldsboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Goldsboro's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Beddingfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Coming up, Goldsboro will be playing in front of their home fans against Princeton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Beddingfield, they will head out on the road to challenge Community Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cyclones will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight.
