Kauffman will head out on the road to challenge the St. Mary's Academy Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Kauffman is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Kauffman came up short against Chillicothe and fell 54-41. While losing is never fun, Kauffman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Chillicothe is ranked 76th).
Meanwhile, St. Mary's Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They put the hurt on Veritas Christian with a sharp 76-51 victory. St. Mary's Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.
St. Mary's Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaac Engholm led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Moats, who scored ten points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Kauffman's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for St. Mary's Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12.
Everything came up roses for Kauffman against St. Mary's Academy in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 64-24 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kauffman since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
