The Genoa Area Comets will take on the Maumee Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Genoa Area has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Genoa Area couldn't beat Otsego on Monday even though they stacked nine runs on them in the first inning. The Comets fell just short of the Knights by a score of 19-18. The Comets haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Genoa Area got a massive performance out of Izzy West, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylie Pennington, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Maumee entered their tilt with Rossford on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 8-5.
Lillie Nye was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Julia Coutcher was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Maumee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 10-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Maumee's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Genoa Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Genoa Area hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Maumee struggles in that department as they've averaged .405. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
