SouthWest Edgecombe's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Greene Central as SouthWest Edgecombe made off with a 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won seven in a row.
Alana Carroll made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season.

In other batting news, SouthWest Edgecombe let Mackenzie Moore and A'Chonacey Mabry run wild. Moore scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2, while Mabry went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Moore a new career-high in stolen bases. Iyera Winstead was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
SouthWest Edgecombe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greene Central only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Hobgood Charter won against Jones two weeks ago with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Hobgood Charter came out on top against North East Carolina Prep by a score of 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.
Haleigh Eason was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Eason was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kinsey Peel, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ella Brownfield, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
SouthWest Edgecombe's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3. As for Hobgood Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
